Put going to an island at the top of your list for the next vacation you plan. With water on all sides, islands have much to offer. No one can deny, that a very popular destination for holidays for mainland travelers and from around the world is Hawaii. This beautiful U.S. state is comprised of multiple islands, each with their own special charm. They include the Big Island of Hawaii, Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai and Lanai. On a Hawaiian vacation you can enjoy sailing, fishing, golfing, guided tours through spectacular natural wonders, sizzling nightlife and of course the amazing beaches. For these reasons and more tourists flock in droves to the Hawaiian islands. The weather is warm and sunny, the locals are friendly and you will never get bored.
For vacationers in the mood for a Caribbean hideaway, give the U.S. Virgin Islands consideration. These Caribbean islands consist of St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas. Like the Hawaiian islands, the Virgin Islands have a lot to offer. Deep sea fishing, golfing, parasailing, lounging on the beach or touring the area for a bit of local culture are just a few things to do on these islands. There are plenty of other Caribbean islands for you to consider visiting as well, including the Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos and Aruba to name a few.
Online planning is possible, but your island getaways can be made easier with the help of a well traveled travel agency. These days in addition to brick and mortar agencies there are online agencies for those who prefer to book online. Travel agents often have access to offers the general public does not, and can put together the perfect vacation package for you. Of course if you would rather plan and book your own trip there are many do-it-yourself travel sites like Expedia, Priceline and Orbitz where you can find many discounts, deals and travel packages or even create your own customized package.
