There are over 900 tree species and 1,500 species of orchid. With close to 10,000 plant species Costa Rica is a horticulturist's paradise. The bird population of the island is very impressive also. On your vacation you might get to see the harpy eagle, toucan, scarlet macaw or one of Costa Rica's other colorful bird species. Mammals include a variety of monkey species such as the capuchin and howler monkey.
When considering your perfect island adventures, Costa Rica should be given some serious thought because of all its spectacular ecological diversity.
